The First Day

Today is my first Collage class at the New School. I excited and a bit nervous, hence this post in the middle of the night. I hope to learn stronger composition and technique in this course.
Using found images, objects and an array of papers and photographic images, transcend the specific materials and create a work greater than the sum of its parts. Collage fosters experimentation and stimulates the creation of imagery that moves beyond the expected. Develop a personal illustration style in this medium. Discussion includes technique and reproduction considerations. Bring to first class: variety of collage papers, different size images relating to autobiography, matte medium, 1. brush, and canvas board (8″ x 10″ or 11″ x 14″)
