C- Murder Screaming For Vengance Q&A
May 13th 2008 -
MissTheda.com: It’s been a long time since we heard from you, what’s new and what’s up coming?
C-Murder: I’ve been working on my new album, “Screaming For Vengeance”, dropping July 1st. plus I have been writing some more book, my first book was “Death Around the Corner,” got another novel that’s going to be dropping on a true publishing called “Thug Politics”. Theses are not biographies; they are actually fictional novels with a real element twisted into it that deals with real street life stuff and current events.
MissTheda.com: When did you first become interested in music?
C-Murder: I mean back in the G’s we all use to chill in the back room we play tapes and CDs and try to emulate cats like “ll Run”. That was when I was real young, like 10 years old.
MissTheda.com: What does the name of your album represent to you?
C-Murder: I been gone a minute, and there’s a lot going on and a lot being said about me. I didn’t get to say a lot back, so I’m doing it through my music, I’m screaming for vengeance.
MissTheda.com: Are there any highlights, guest appearances, favorite tracks?
C-Murder: Definitely, I brought mia x out of retirement, she is on two track with me, I know the fans is going to love that, she spitting fire in 16’s. Slim thug, Papoose, Bones, I did a remix posted on the block with all homies in it, you know that’s going to be a big record.
MissTheda.com: What would like your fans to take away from this album both creatively and lyrically?
C-Murder: I want them to understand that I wasn’t just sitting around chilling and I just don’t put out any kind of music. I stepped my games up lyrically and production wise we got a real complete album not just a bunch of songs talking about the same subject matter. You can relate to it, ride to it and enjoy it.
MissTheda.com: Do you have any other goals outside of music that you would like to pursue?
C-Murder: My own publishing company, I established it “True Publishing” now we have to reach out to all the offices and start putting them out and dropping it, just like we do albums.
MissTheda.com: What are your thoughts on the current state of hip hop?
C-Murder: I think a lot of people take it too serious. There’s a lot of element in hip hop, you got your dance crowd, the keeping it gangster crowd, then you got the regular hip hop heads. But I enjoy all of them, when I go to the club I want to hear the dance type stuff, I also want to get uplifted, I want the hip hop head to tell me about the world and society, then I wanna get gutter with it. I’m just proud of the guys, they not on the streets doing they round, they making honest money.
MissTheda.com: What would you want people to know about C-Murder, that they won’t get from the records?
C-Murder: You know I’m real with it, a lot of people look at me thinking I ain’t approachable; I have no sense of humor. That’s totally wrong I like to have fun…ya heard me! They can holla at me like everyone else, see if they were in New Orleans they would understand me, but out of town people don’t get to see me that much.
MissTheda.com: So, with your current situation, are you on house arrest, waiting for re-trial?
C-Murder: Yes, I’m on house arrest right now, re-trial date coming up in June.
MissTheda.com: What does C-Murder do on his spare time, that’s completely away from music?
C-Murder: I go to the gym, hit Tulane University, go work out, swim, and hit the sauna. I get all the homies together and we have a barbeque. The old school days, we play football on one day and a basketball game on the next day.
MissTheda.com: What does C-Murder watch on TV these days?
C-Murder: You know I’m always in, because I’m on house arrest. I watch “The Wire” religiously, but they cut it, so it over now. “Wheel of Fortune” is my favorite show; it’s my dream to go on there.
MissTheda.com: Would you ever do a reality show?
C-Murder: I would do a reality show, I am about to start working on one now, they wanted me to do it when I first came home, but I wasn’t ready then. It would be based on real life for me and my family and see how we rock from day to day. My family would be the whole entity of the show. Also the organization I deal with down here, show everyone that and expose that and maybe also bring some light to some situations.
MissTheda.com: So if I took a little trip to New Orleans, my visit wouldn’t be complete without going to what three spots?
C-Murder: You have to visit all the hot spots like Downtown Bourbon, Canal Street, The Shop, Saks. But you have to visit some of our parks, because a lot of people don’t know about our parks like “Audubon park”, “City Park”, the museums out there and then catch a game, New Orleans Hornets are about to win the championship.
MissTheda.com: How do think New Orleans has changed since Katrina?
C-Murder: It’s just starting to shape back; you know a lot of people still not home, so we don’t have that New Orleans population back. Our spirits still out here, so we coming back slowly, but shortly.
