If you want to level up quickly on Farmville take some time to visit your neighboring farms. Each visit will net you 5 experience points and 20 coins. Plus if you fertilize their crops you can gain an additional 5 coins and 5 experience points. You can only do this once a day for each neighbors farm. So if you are waiting on crops to grow, visit a friend and help out at least 5 friends to earn a bonus and give your neighbors one too.
