Thanksgiving Wine Suggestions

November 25th 2009 -

White wines of the Rhône Valley in France made from Viognier, Roussanne and Marsanne, whether single varietals or blends are crowd pleasers and great matches for savory, sweet, nutty and tart flavors. The wines are dry, but lush, and burst with fruity and spicy aromas.

For reds, look for something fruity, spicy and rich, but without harsh tannins. Two that fit the bill are Zinfandel from California and Grenache or Grenache blends from Washington State. Both wines work well with various flavors and demanding palates.

I’ll be tweeting the wines we are drinking at both the Thanksgiving meals I’m going to.
