Owen Van Natta is out as CEO of MySpace, and has been replaced by Mike Jones and Jason Hirschhorn, the executives who were brought in by News Corp in April 2009. Jones and Hirschhorn have been named co-presidents, and will report directly to News Corp. Digital Media Chairman-CEO Jon Miller.

Facebook on Wednesday opened its Facebook Chat application so that its members can use their own preferred desktop client, such as AIM and iChat. “Simply connect your Facebook account with the instant messaging client of your choice and start chatting.” Also a new version of the AIM software, still in beta, allows users to chat with friends on Facebook without actually having to log into Facebook.
